Cocoon Production In China Ranks First In The World For More Than 30 Years.

In 2007, the output of silkworm cocoons in China was 782 thousand tons, and the proportion of the world's total output increased from 22% in 1950 to 78%. Cocoon silk production ranks first in the world for 30 consecutive years, and its total industrial output value reached 167 billion yuan, and silk products exports amounted to 8 billion 900 million US dollars.

The silk industry has both economic, ecological, cultural and social benefits, and has made important contributions to farmers' enrichment, employment expansion, ecological protection and coordinated regional development.

At present, the Ministry of commerce is actively promoting the structural adjustment of cocoon and silk industry, promoting the continuous optimization of product and regional structure, and supporting and upgrading the overall development level of the industry with modern science and technology.

According to reports, the Olympic Games become an opportunity for the development of China's silk industry.

During the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, the brilliant performance of the silk road has attracted worldwide attention. Many silk enterprises have become the Beijing Olympic Games silk gift franchisee and the Beijing Olympic Games mascot silk gift franchisee.

At the same time, the relevant associations have stepped up publicity efforts to further expand the visibility and influence of China's high-grade silk logo, and help silk enterprises to develop domestic and foreign markets.
