Leap Forward Development Of Cotton Production In India

India's cotton production will have a great leap forward. By 2012, India's cotton output will reach about 45 million bales.

P D Patodia, President of the India Cotton Association (CAI), revealed this optimistic news to Mumbai in the media.

He said that India's current output is 31 million 500 thousand packs (170 kilograms), accounting for 20% of world cotton output.

He said that the average yield per hectare in India is 560 kilograms, which is also lower than the world average output per kilogram of 785 kilograms. However, India has obvious advantages and will greatly increase its output per unit in the future.

India cotton planting area is widespread, spanning 10 different cotton planting countries, agricultural climate conditions are changeable.

India cotton planting area of 9 million 500 thousand hectares, constitute the world's total cotton planting area of 29%, India planting area is the world's first.

In the past four years, due to the substantial increase in productivity, India's cotton yield increased from 398 kg per hectare to 560 kg per hectare in 08 years from 04 years.
