India To Grant Pakistan Preferential Market Access For Textiles

Pakistan's "News" quoted India's "Economic Times" on the 22nd to report that if Pakistan grants India the most favored nation treatment (MFN) and takes measures to promote self employment in India Imported India will provide preferential tariff or zero tariff market access treatment for Pakistan's textiles and other major export commodities.

It is reported that from November 14 to 18, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce of India and Pakistan will hold talks. The Indian side expressed its hope that Pakistan would not only consider changing India Pakistan trade from a positive list to a negative list in the trade dialogue and negotiation, but also further consider following the trade principle that SAFTA only keeps some sensitive lists of items. Recently, the Pakistani government has repeatedly released positive signals, saying that it will give India most favored nation treatment, but at the same time, it also hopes that India can actively eliminate non-tariff goods to Pakistan Trade Barriers to provide more convenience for business exchanges between the two sides.
