Unfavorable Situation In Africa'S Cotton Industry

Reported in March 16th, the current situation of Africa's cotton is very unfavourable, and the follow-up impact of the global economic crisis continues to deepen. Africa has no way to cope with the main competitor of the US cotton growers. Mainly developed countries, especially the US government, subsidized cotton growers, resulting in unequal competition in the market. According to ACA, the loss of African cotton producing countries in 2007 was as high as 250 billion.

Not only that, the African governments' efforts to foster local growers are inadequate, but also lead to the disadvantage of African cotton in international competition, and the African Franc as a currency in the US dollar dominated cotton trade is also obviously underpowered.

To revitalize Africa's cotton industry, the African cotton association has decided to adopt a new strategic plan to divide Africa into five economic zones. Of course, the focus of the plan is still to increase output, and to promote the establishment of the African cotton processing industry, and to increase the added value and revenue.
